The TTOA Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an outstanding individual who over an extended period of time provided exceptional leadership to optometric education; made outstanding contributions to the optometric community, and displayed exemplary commitment and dedication to the Association. (The award is not necessarily an annual award and is not tied to retirement.)
The TTOA has the honor to award the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award to Ms. Marie Dalton-Brown and Ms. Joyce Ali.
****************************** Marie Dalton-Brown founded Dalton-Brown Optometrists on October, 1983. Marie, who is originally from Ireland came to Trinidad with her Trinidadian husband, William in 1978. Marie provided professional eye care for many generations of families in the Arima locality, until she retired in November 2016. She is well known for her gentle yet strong spirit which infused her professional skills with so much compassion.
**************************** Ms. Joyce Ali started practicing in 1961 in Trinidad after her studies in Manchester, United Kingdom. In 1989 she moved to open her own practice - Joyce E Ali and Company Limited on Frederick Street, POS and has been serving the community since then until her retirement in 2017. Mrs Ali always sought to create a comfortable and pleasing environment for staff and patients while providing professional eye care.
