Continuing Education (CE) – you know you have to have it, but what exactly is it?!
CE for optometrists is defined by the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry (ARBO) as the primary method used by optometric regulatory boards to promote the continuing competence of licensed optometrists (aka if you don’t obtain it, you lose your license!). The Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE) was created by ARBO to accredit continuing education on behalf of optometric licensing boards.
General Optical Council: CET is a statutory requirement for all fully-qualified optometrists and dispensing opticians. The CET scheme is a points-based scheme that runs over a three-year cycle from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2021. All fully-qualified registrants must earn a minimum number of CET points and meet a minimum set of requirements by the end of each cycle to stay on the register.

Ms. Thalia Bruce (TTOA President 2025-2027) is in charge of the planning and execution of CET events.
